Blockade Boy

From Who's Who in the Legion of Super-Heroes 1: One of several prisoners of Nardo's super-stalag, Blockade Boy was originally from the Trendauer Naval Institute on Amadus. Phyl's mutant power, the ability to change himself into a steel barricade, was discovered when he entered the Academy and led to his leaving Amadus after engineering several practical jokes which resulted in his expulsion. He was captured by Nardo and, during a failed escape attempt from the super-gulag, his comrades were killed. Blockade Boy himself later sacrificed his life to protect Matter-Eater Lad during an ill-fated escape attempt.
