Armageddon 2001 refers to a gigantic battle between all of Earth’s heroes and a villain known only as Monarch, in which the superheroes were slain and the all-powerful Monarch plunged the world into a totalitarian government underneath his rule.

As the War between the different colored Lantern Corps rages on, the prophecy of the Blackest Night descends and it’s up to Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps to lead the heroes in a battle to save the universe from an army of undead Black Lanterns made up of fallen Green Lanterns and deceased heroes and villains.

Alien parasites have come to Earth with the intention of feeding themselves on human spinal fluids. Although the monsters slaughtered many, their feeding also activated the metagene in a number of individuals, leading to a massive wave of new super-powered characters, calling themselves “New Bloods”.

At the climax of Blackest Night a number of deceased heroes and villains were returned to life by the Entity. Now the resurrected search to understand the Entity’s reasons for bringing them back, and to deal with other consequences of their returns.

Brainiac has been collecting cities and inhabitants from various timelines that have ended,  trapping them in domes on a planet outside of time and space and opening them up to see what happens.

The enormous build-up to Infinite Crisis.

The Crisis on Infinite Earths was a Multiversal catastrophe that resulted in the destruction of countless parallel universes,  and the recreation of a single universe.

With Superboy,  the Teen Titans,  and the members of the Legion of Super-Heroes who are trapped in the 21st century captured in N.O.W.H.E.R.E.’s base known as The Colony,  N.O.W.H.E.R.E.’s leader Harvest pits the young heroes against each other,  in an attempt to weed out the weak,  and use the survivors in his elite guard known as Ravagers.

In the 853rd Century the original Superman still lives,  but has spent over fifteen thousand years in a self-imposed exile in his Fortress of Solitude in the heart of the sun.  Superman announces that he will soon return to humanity,  and to celebrate,  Justice Legion Alpha travels back in time to the late 20th century to meet Superman’s original teammates in the JLA.

The Green Lantern Corps,  L.E.G.I.O.N.,  and the Darkstars converge on the planet Maltus,  birthplace of the Guardians of the Universe,  the Controllers,  and the Zamarons.  They go up against a trio of cosmic powered ancient Malthusian Gods called The Triarch.

From his palace on Earth’s moon Eclipso uses hate as a trigger to possess other beings.  Whenever someone who has a black diamond in their possession gets angry,  Eclipso can instantly take control of that particular person.

In Elseworlds, heroes are taken from their usual settings and put into strange times and places--some that existed, or might have existed, and others that can't, couldn't or shouldn't exist.

Following the final battle of the New Gods,  the spirit of Darkseid tumbles through time itself,  coming to rest on Earth.  Darkseid’s “fall” has sundered reality, creating a singularity at the heart of creation,  into which all of space and time are slowly being drawn,  setting the stage for the evil god’s final victory,  to be claimed in his inevitable death.

An alien named Dusk has crash-landed in Metropolis’ West River to warn the planet of the coming of an entity known as a Sun-Eater.  As its name implies, this artificially created black hole is en route to Earth to literally consume Earth’s sun.

Savitar attempts to take control of the Speed Force,  an indefinable energy field that is the source of all speedsters’ powers.  Learning that every one of his allies,  including Impulse and Jesse Quick,  have lost their speed,  the Flash rushes to take on this new menace.

Barry Allen wakes up to discover everything and everyone around him has changed.  The Flash,  the Justice League,  and even Superman do not exist.  Barry realizes that the world of Flashpoint is not a parallel dimension,  but an alternate reality and he must reset the timeline.

Spinning out of the finale of Dark Nights: Death MetalDC Future State will take you on a journey from the near future to the end of time to witness the destinies of heroes like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Justice League, the Teen Titans, and so many more.

The “Godwave”,  an interstellar phenomenon that,  on its first pass,  created gods on various planets through the universe.  The Godwave then reached the edge of the universe and bounced back,  creating superhumans on its second pass.  Now the wave threatens reality when it rebounds back to its starting point on its third pass.

Infinite Crisis is a 2005-2006 crossover event written by Geoff Johns with illustrations by Phil Jimenez, George Perez, Ivan Reis and Jerry Ordway. The story is told through an eponymous seven issue mini-series although tie-ins span the entire DC Universe. There were four lead-in mini-series' published as part of the Countdown to Infinite Crisis including Day of VengeanceThe OMAC ProjectRann-Thanagar War and Villains United. Its conclusion was followed by the One Year Later event skipping ahead a full year in the timeline, while the missing year was explored in the 52 event.

The story returns to concepts established at the end of Crisis on Infinite Earths when Alex Luthor, Lois Lane of Earth-Two, Superboy-Prime and Superman of Earth-Two disappeared as the last surviving heroes of the destroyed Multiverse. It's revealed that they have been monitoring the heroes of New Earth as they descend into darkness, and believe this generation unworthy of their legacy. They return to bring back the Multiverse, in an effort to restore the idealistic values of their own time.

The Alien Alliance,  led by the war-like Dominators and Khunds,  intend on wiping out humanity to destroy all of Earth’s metahumans.  This all-out assault on superheroes leads to a war consuming the entire world,  and ramifications throughout the universe.

Joker: Last Laugh is a 2001 storyline, mostly told in a special miniseries written by Chuck Dixon and Scott Beatty with art by Pete Woods. It focuses on Joker's latest scheme, in which he takes over control of supervillains with Joker Venom.

Following the discovery of Task Force X,  the Justice League aims to shut the team down.  Meanwhile other forces move against both teams.

Darkseid wants to destabilize Earth’s power structure so he can harvest the Anti-Life Equation.  He decides that humanity will be easier to control if he destroys the legends that inspire them.

EARTH IS DEAD. Those who once might have called it home are long scattered to the stars. But in that scattering, on a thousand different worlds, by a thousand different ways... Earth's greatest legends live on. These are... LEGENDS OF THE DEAD EARTH.

The JSA and JLA decide to team up and search for the time-displaced Legion of Super-Heroes members.

Aliens visit Earth to start the next wave of human evolution.  Ten humans are chosen to advance and become immortals,  given special powers.  They are attacked by Manhunter agents,  part of an alien conspiracy posing as close friends and relatives to every single superhero.

The Multiverse is being invaded by malevolent destroyers known as The Gentry,  who serve an entity only known as the Empty Hand.  Various heroes from across the Multiverse are forced to band together to face this inter-dimensional threat.

Prime Earth is feeling the after effects of a war across the multiverse.  As a new threat approaches the vulnerable Earth,  Batman Beyond travels back in time to help the heroes of Prime Earth fend off the impending apocalypse.

Imperiex,  an embodiment of entropy,  detects imperfections in the fabric of the universe,  and plans to destroy it and create a new,  perfect universe.  He heads to Earth in order to destroy it and induce a new Big Bang.

Brainiac seizes control of Warworld.  He then brainwashes Supergirl and the alien warrior Draaga before capturing Metron and setting off for Earth.  Superman gathers a coalition of superheroes and launches a preemptive strike at Warworld before it can arrive on Earth.

Pulp Heroes was an annual crossover event that featured DC superheroes in pulp fiction-style stories, with hardboiled crime noir.

"Silver Age" was a twelve part storyline that ran through a series of one shot comic books published by DC Comics in 2000.

Each of the 12 issues were a one-shot (feature issue #1 on the cover), however they formed a larger story-arc in which The Justice League of America fights the Injustice League formed by villain Agamemno.

The art, dialogue, narrative style and even the format of the comics (larger page-counts, half-page advertisements, etc.) were deliberately anachronistic for the time of publication, thus the issues served as a tribute, and in some cases a gentle satire, to the books and creators of DC Comics during the Silver Age of Comic Books.

The city of Kandor now resides near the Fortress of Solitude in the North Pole,  populated by 100,000 Kryptonians.  Superman attempts to aid the Kryptonians in their assimilation with the rest of the Earth,  something very few Kryptonians seem interested in,  including the city’s leaders.

Neron,  the new ruler of Hell,  gives villains their hearts desire in exchange for their souls.  The villains overpower the heroes with their newfound power.

Ancient gods suddenly begin trying to destroy the Earth and each other.  While the ancient Roman gods wage war with the Olympian gods,  the Egyptian,  African,  Norse,  Babylonian,  and Thanagarian gods each want to recreate the world in their own images,  and attack the superheroes who stand in their way.

Fred Bentson unwittingly becomes a portal between two worlds and two cities.  A living link between Dakota,  home city of the Milestone heroes,  and Metropolis,  home of Superman.  Eventually Bentson loses control of his powers and transforms into Rift.  The heroes of the two universes come together to stop him and seal the dangerous rift between their worlds.

The repercussions of Dark Nights: Metal continue to aggravate, as Lex Luthor makes a devil's bargain that will change everything in the Multiverse.

They Were Legends From The Beginning

Parallax attempts to destroy the timestream so he can construct a better world,  that won’t produce the evils that turned him into a villain.  With the barriers of time destroyed,  time begins eating away at itself from both ends,  and the lines separating alternate timelines become blurred,  allowing them to interact.
