Chronicler's Error?

In Brin's nightmare, Ayla is dressed in her original Lightning Lass costume. By the time she met Brin, she was already Light Lass. Either this is chronicler's error, or the sequence of events was somewhat different in the Glorithverse. I tend to lean toward the first explanation.
