If Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl married and had children, I think they would combine their parents' powers. They would be like Validus, of the Fatal Five, able to project mental lightning.
Many years later Lighting Lad and Saturn Girl did marry, had children, and one of them was kidnapped by Darkseid to become Validus of the Fatal Five.
I'm all in favor of physically combining Chemical King and Cosmic Boy...but those uniforms have got to go.
