The editors respond by asking readers to submit their votes before December 26, the date the next issue hits the stands.
Thus began a tradition in which readers cast their votes for Leader, and the writers followed the results. That tradition continued, off and on, well into the recent past. As I write this, the Millennium Legion has just debuted; there's no word on whether the creators will follow this tradition.
