A special unit made of up Navy and Marine personnel with exceptional abilities, under the command of an independent Commodore.
Physical, mental, emotional, genetic—all around the Galaxy are people who stretch the envelope of humanity. We’ve got one squad of autistics who are wizards at communicating with Nonhumans. There are aquatics, both Human and Dolphin. Some bonded pairs from T Keimai. And Nonhumans—a lot of them are citizens and serve in the Navy.

Arm of the Imperial Navy which supervises telepaths. Most large Navy vessels and bases have at least one telepath for secure communications.

The basic unit of the Imperial Navy is the Fleet, of which there are eight, one for each province. A Fleet is commanded by a Fleet Admiral from his/her Supercruiser.
There are 17 Wings, each with two or three Wing Bases. A Vice Admiral or Rear Admiral commands each Wing, subject to the Fleet.

The IGS maintained and published the Planetary Catalog, which was a complete database of maps, surveys, and other geographic and astrographic information about the thousands of worlds, inhabited and not, which had come to the attention of the Empire. The Planetary Catalog was made available through the Grand Library.

The Imeprial Galactographic Survey, run jointly by the Grand Library and the Department of Colonization, was the branch of the Imperial government responsible for mapping the Galaxy, planetary systems, and the individual planets of the Empire.
The IGS also placed and maintained thousands of automated reference & navigational buoys throughout the Galaxy.
