First Empire

The Division of Colonial Supply is responsible for all matters of supply and trade between Colonies and the rest of the Empire. (When a planet becomes an Imperial World in full standing, trade passes under the control of the planetary government.)

The Division of Colonial Regulation is responsible for planetary government and interplanetary regulation for planets with the status of Colonies -- that is, planets which have yet to pay off the costs of settlement. (When settlement costs are paid off, a planet becomes an Imperial world in full standing, and planetary administration passes under the control of the Bureaucratic Corps.)

Division of the Imperial Department of Technology responsible for terraforming and other large-scale construction projects throughout the Galaxy.

A subdivision of the Schmidt Foundation, eventually under the control of the Imperial Department of Technology, dedicated to identification and training of telepaths. Telepaths trained by the School are identified by the Greek letter psi tatooed on their foreheads.

Sub-Division of Imperial Traffic Control responsible for registration of starships and other interplanetary or interstellar craft.

Sub-Division of Imperial Traffic Control responsible for licensing and regulating pilots of interplanetary and interstellar craft throughout the Galaxy.

Pilots are ranked by skill and ability on a numerical scale from 1 (novice) to 15 (the highest ranking). The same ranking system is used in the Imperial Navy.

Division of the Imperial Department of Technology responsible for the safe flow of interstellar and interplanetary traffic. In addition to maintaining & regulating traffic on the main Galactic trade lanes, Imperial Traffic Control runs traffic control stations within each settled planetary system. All traffic within the Galaxy is supposed to register with Imperial Traffic Control, and to stick to approved flight plans.

Division of the Imperial Department of Technology responsible for medical research, training & regulation of medical personnel, and maintenance of medical facilities throughout the Galaxy.

Division of the Department of Technology responsible for overseeing and co-ordinating government research efforts throughout the Empire. The Research Division maintains many laboratories throughout the Empire, and also issues research grants to corporations and other entities.

Division of the Imperial government which deals with the discovery and use of raw materials.

Prospecting & Resource Exploitation is a co-operative effort between the Departments of Technology and Commerce.
