Vessel

Constellation

Wanda Hoister's personal yacht, designed by the X-Tetrad.

Yamato

Wafor Hoister's personal yacht, designed by the X-Tetrad.

Sekhmet

Tyron Hoister's personal yacht, designed by the X-Tetrad, shaped like a lion.

Cath Palug

Tanisha Hoister's personal yacht, designed by the X-Tetrad, shaped like a monster cat.

Spirited Song

The S-Tetrad's yacht, designed by the X-Tetrad. Spirited Song is a 75-meter starship whose shape recalls the spiral of a conch shell.

Odin's Harp

The Hoister R-Tetrad's personal yacht. Designed by the X-Tetrad, Odin's Harp is basically a wedge shape with curves that recall musical instruments. An ornamental mast anchors many sires, which suggest musical strings.

WaveRider

A class of ground-to-orbit vessels common on Terra in the mid-21st century CE. A WaveRider was launched by the Kilimanjaro Laser Launch Facility, which used high-power lasers to vaporize a huge block of ice at the rear of the vessel. Return from orbit was accomplished by gliding.

WaveRiders remained in use until supplanted by fusion drive vessels in the 2050s. Most were subsequently refitted with fusion drives or, in the 2070s, with antigrav units.

Swala

First fusion-drive spaceship, launched from Kuumba Station to Mars on 27 July 2042 CE.

Kuumba Station

One of seven major Stations in low orbit around Terra. Kuumba was fitted with an early prototype of the fusion drive, and left Terran orbit in 2042 CE. It then became a spaceship on a regular Terra-Mars run, until it was made obsolete by atntigrav propulsion in the 2070s CE. Kuumba was ultimately moored to Deimos and retained as a museum.

Physically, Kuumba is simple and elegant, a geometer's dream: a tetrahedron the color of clouds, tumbling lazily in the sun. Within, shadows and stars move in stately patterns. The whole thing is an intricate jewel, a delicate Fabergé creation displayed on the blackest velvet -- until it grows with approiach, and the tiny insects that nuzzle at its vertices reveal themselves to be spacecraft. The tetrahedron measures five hundred meters along each edge, In its heyday, Kuumba carried twice as much traffic as any other Station.
