Kuumba Station
One of seven major Stations in low orbit around Terra. Kuumba was fitted with an early prototype of the fusion drive, and left Terran orbit in 2042 CE. It then became a spaceship on a regular Terra-Mars run, until it was made obsolete by atntigrav propulsion in the 2070s CE. Kuumba was ultimately moored to Deimos and retained as a museum.
Physically, Kuumba is simple and elegant, a geometer's dream: a tetrahedron the color of clouds, tumbling lazily in the sun. Within, shadows and stars move in stately patterns. The whole thing is an intricate jewel, a delicate Fabergé creation displayed on the blackest velvet -- until it grows with approiach, and the tiny insects that nuzzle at its vertices reveal themselves to be spacecraft. The tetrahedron measures five hundred meters along each edge, In its heyday, Kuumba carried twice as much traffic as any other Station.
