Outlying galactic exploration parties make contach with the Sebhra ("Enemies,") apparently a Hchevidiire-type lifeform at least partially under the domination of the Gathered Worlds. Sebhra ships track exploration parties, and the Empire of the Miethara is invaded. A period of war with the Sebhra commences.

The star Barentikater shows signs of developing into a nova. The science of the Miethara is stretched to the limit to control the star. Mass migration of the system's population is considered, until Miethara scientists announce that stability has been assured.
