The Rule of Five is a serial space opera by Don Sakers and Melissa Scott. It involves Pirates, Judges, weird physics, desperate refugees, struggling colonists. Missing persons and a mystery ship. A quest for human origins in a pocket universe.

Every month brings a new episode of at least 2,000 words—a solid short story. Past episodes are collected in quarterly ebooks, annual compilations, and finally novels.. Ultimately it will all be collected in a tidy trilogy.
