Virtual Balticon 54
Highlights:

The May/June 2020 issue of Analog is out. In my book review column, "The Reference Library," I talk about the ways shifting audiences have shaped the science fiction field. I also review books by Ben Bova & Gordon R. Dickson; Patrick Chiles; Robert Mitchell Evans; Michael R. Johnston; Sharon Lee & Steve Miller; Wil McCarthy; Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, & Steven Barnes; Kristine Kathryn Rusch; and Robert J. Sawyer. Read it online here.

Last week I mentioned that Balticon is planning a virtual con over the Memorial Day weekend. This is shaping up to be an awesome event, and it will be free for anyone. Starting this week and continuing until the conb, the Balticon Programming & Tech teams have been hosting orientation and practice sessions for guests and program prticiopants, so we can get accustomed to the interface. I had my orientation on Monday along with half a dozen colleagues. It was good to see folks, and if everything works as it seems to, this will be a great experience for everyone.

Plans are still in flux, but there's talk of making sessions available on various platforms after the convention. So if you don't get a chance to be part of the fun in May, you'll probably have a chance to catch up later.

Spotlight:

I'm gradually moving my print titles from Lightning Source to Amazon. This is mostly a behind-the-scenes change; you'll still be able to order through Amazon or other venues. The most recent title is Weaving the Web of Days, and you can get it here.
