The Great Kitchen Rearrangement proceeds apace. The final goal here is to prepare for the arrival of the new refrigerator. The whole project involves many steps. We've been using the kitchen table to store Star Wars toys and other stuff. The final goal is to move all that stored stuff back against the wall (preferably on shelves), move the table forward, and shfit a couple of other pieces of furniture. The new refrigerator will go where the old one is; we'll keep the old one in service and mvoe it to a space near the table and storage area. Along the way, I'm reorganizing cabinets and shelves, clearing out 25 years worth of clutter, and generally improving the flow of the whole room. The house is nearly a hundred years old; there's minimal cabinet and counter space. We're adding more options, like a heavy-duty pot rack to go over the stove where we'll pile and hang pots and pans.

In addition to the kitchen, this week I've been insanely productive on some other projects. It's been nice.

Projects:
  • In my book scanning project, I reached the milestone of 9,800 scanned books & magazines.
  • I added about 1,100 words to my memoir.
  • New episode of serial space opera The Rule of Five went up on Sunday.
  • I've been publishing gay erotic stories under a pseudonym; the latest ebook is now available on Amazon (very NSFW!).
  • I wrote about 500 more words on Hunt for the Dymalon Cygnet, followup title to Dance for the Ivory Madonna.
  • I got started on my July/August book review column for Analog.
Buzzard

Above: The other morning, this big ol' buzzard came skidding down our roof and perched on the back porch railing for about ten minutes. In this picture it's hard to tell scale; the bird was roughly the size of a basketball. Most impressive.
