Forms of address:

Technically the ruler of the First Terran Empire bore the title Emperor, regardless of gender. Some female Emperors styled themselves Empress, notably Maj Thovold and Virginia Carroll.

The most concise form of the Emperor's titles was"Her/His Imperial Highness, Emperor of the Terran Empire, Protector of Peace, Daughter/Son of the Gods, of the most supreme Idara of _____, First name." Recitation of the full list of titles takes over an hour.

Forms of address for the Imperial Family evolved only slowly. The Emperor was addressed as "Majesty" or "Highness." Their spouse was called the "Imperial Consort."

The children of an Emperor had no specific title. The designated heir was referred to as "Heir"or "Heir to the Empire." On those occasions when the succession was determined two generations in advance, the second heir was titled "Heir's Heir" or (less commonly) "Heir Presumptive."

The title "Heir" became more generic and used by the Idara, so that after about TE 400 it was proper to speak of the "Heir Imperial."

The monarch's chief assistant bore the title "Emperor's hand."

The Imperial Throne was not automatically hereditary, but was granted specifically by the Imperial Council.

The Empire's flagship, which was also the Emperor's personal starship, was the Imperial Eagle.

The Emperor wore a special Spiral and Six Globes Pendant, reserved for the use of the sovereign.
