The ICG website has Guidelines, Resources, Photo Galleries, links for conventions, and links for Costumer's Webpages and journals, and information on local chapters.

Costume-Con®

We proudly support the Costume-Con® convention, founded in 1983. The Costume-Con® (http://www.costume-con.org/) is an annual gathering of like-minded individuals who participate in the many facets of costuming. Each year 501c3 costume guilds bid to host the event in their area. The convention features several masquerades, workshops, and social events. Their website has photo archives of costume entries and much more.

The GCFCG has hosted these CostumeCons®:

  • Costume-Con® 3, Columbia, Maryland, May 24-27, 1985
  • Costume-Con® 9, Columbia, Maryland, February, 15-18, 1991
  • Costume-Con® 15, Baltimore, Maryland, May 23-26, 1997
  • Costume-Con® 27, Timonium, Maryland, May 1-4, 2009
  • Coming: Costume-Con® 40, Rockville, Maryland, April 1-4, 2022 CostumeCon40.com

The GCFCG is bidding to host Costume-Con® 40. Check our CC40 bid page at https://ccbidmd.com/ for information on our progress. Update: According to Secretary Gaia Eirich, "we won the CC40 bid, rather than still bidding for it." More information will be added when available.

  • New Jersey / New York Costumers’ Guild (AKA: Sick Pups)
    NJ, NY, CT, and beyond

New Jersey/New York Costumers' Guild is a non-profit amateur group specializing in the educational and social nature of all aspects of costuming. Historically, we were the third costume guild to form part of the International Costumers' Guild, Inc., founded in 1985. We hold bimonthly meetings which include business, socializing, and (usually) some sort of workshop.

Our members' interests include science ficton, fantasy, media, anime, and historical costumes. Some of our members also explore related arts, including millinery, embroidery, quilting, and more. Many of our members attend conventions, including Costume-Cons and World Science Fiction Conventions (Worldcons).

Our membership also includes technicians whose interests cover the running and support of Masquerades (theatrical costume competitions) at science fiction conventions in areas such as lighting, sound, stage management, makeup, backstage support, photography, and videography. We welcome new members!

The NJ/NY Costumers' Guild is affectionately nicknamed the Sick Pups, or (more formally) "The Sick Pups of Greater Monmouth County". While most of our members come from New Jersey, New York, or Connecticut, we have members from as far south as Georgia and as far west as Colorado. We interpret "Greater Monmouth Country" loosely and have members from all over the United States. Our mascot is Spaz, the original Sick Pup.

    New England

We are the New England area chapter of the International Costumers’ Guild (ICG), which is a worldwide organization of costume professionals and hobbyists. NoeL is composed of costumers, teachers, artists, and interested people who share the love of costuming. (And a few engineers, even!)

Our members are scattered over the greater New England area. You can also find concentrations of costumers at regional Science Fiction Conventions like Arisia and the World Science Fiction Conventions.

Members of the Northern Lights also enjoy Costume-Con, the annual conference presented by costumers around the world for costumers and all about costuming. Costume-Cons provide presentations, seminars and workshops in various costuming skills as well as competitions for the best in the world of amateur costuming.

  • Southwest Costumers Guild (SWCG)
    Central AZ

The Southwest Costumers Guild is a loose and informal educational society of persons interested in all facets of historical, cultural, science fiction, fantasy, and humor costume. SWCG is central Arizona's chapter of the International Costume Guild.

  • St. Louis Costumers Guild AKA: The St Louis Ubiquitous Tailoring Society (SLUTS)
    St. Louis, MO area

Basically we're a regional chapter of the International Costumers' Guild, a worldwide educational organization of costume professionals and hobbyists whose aim is to:

"promote the educational, cultural, literary, artistic and theatrical advancement of costume design and construction and the influence of costume (clothing), fabrics, and design upon societies and cultures."

    and:

"promote public goodwill towards the costuming community and to provide a public forum for the discussion of costume, clothing, and other related subjects through publications, conferences, and other special projects."

But that doesn't begin to describe "who" and "what" we really are.

We're as much a social organization and support group as we are a costuming guild. We're friends, co-conspirators, instructors, and everybody's cheering section. Not all of us make or even wear costumes, but we all appreciate the "artform" and goad each other into greater leaps and accomplishments whether on stage or off.

We come from all walks of life: programmers, students, artists, teachers, nurses, retirees, accountants, and retail clerks. Like ourselves, our costuming interests are varied and all-encompassing.

Half the fun of the SLCG is the exchange of ideas and information, and working together to learn new things and techniques as our projects go from idea to full-blown presentation.

Founded in 2003, we are a "virtual" community whose members interact using Internet technologies, including this web site, an online costuming magazine, newsgroups, email, and other social networking tools.

SiW is a chapter of the International Costumers' Guild (ICG), an international organization that brings hobbyist and professional costumers from around the world together, and fosters, through its local chapters, educational and social costume events.
